About Me
My name is Andrew Mikkola and I am a freelance Camera/Drone operator based in Missoula, MT.
I’ve spent a decade filming television for History, NatGeo, Discovery, HGTV, INSP and other networks. I specialize in outdoor reality TV but have filmed a variety of other shows including scripted, competition, live sports, lifestyle, commercial, and documentary. I love telling stories through visual media, whether that’s 60 feet inside a glacial crevasse in Alaska, or at a small business, creating content to help them grow.
I was born in Missoula and fell in love with production ever since I watched the behind the scenes featurettes on the extended editions of The Lord of the Rings. Both the technical side and the artistic collaboration called me to this career.
In 2016 I graduated from UM with a BFA in Media Arts: Filmmaking and a BS in Marketing. I spent the next 7 years working full time at Warm Springs Productions. I started out as a production assistant and worked my way up to being a DP and Shooter/Producer. In 2023 the production department went freelance and I’ve been freelance ever since.
When I’m not behind a camera I enjoy taking my dog on long walks, cheering on the Packers, and binging shows with my wife Sam.
This is Took, the golden retriever behind the name.
He’s always excited to meet people, loves adventures and having fun, but when a ball is out, it’s serious business until that sphere is held captive in his jaws.
